Feeding methods and precautions
1. Feeding frequency:
Juvenile fish (under 30cm): 2-3 times a day, with each feeding amount being such that the fish finish eating within 5 minutes (to avoid residual bait polluting the water quality and affecting feed absorption).
Adult fish (over 30cm): once a day, or once every other day (to control food intake and prevent obesity-induced “eye dropping” and “loose scales”, especially for golden arowanas, fat control must be strict).
2. Feed combination:
Do not feed only pellet feed. It is recommended to 1-2 times a week with “natural bait” (such as shelled river shrimp, bloodworms; red arowanas can be given a small amount of centipedes (to enhance color); golden arowanas can be given a small amount of loach (to strengthen bones)), but they need to be frozen and sterilized in advance (to avoid parasites). The pellet feed should be labeled “can be combined with natural bait, no need for additional nutrients”.
3. Water quality adaptation:
The feed should be labeled “suitable for pH 6.5-7.5, water temperature 28-30℃” (in this environment, the fish’s metabolism is vigorous, and the feed nutrient absorption efficiency is the highest). It is also recommended to add a “low residual bait formula” (to reduce ammonia nitrogen release after the feed dissolves in water and reduce the pressure of water quality maintenance).
